Merkel desmiente una declaración pública francoalemana para calmar al mercado
La canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, ha desmentido que vaya a haber hoy un comunicado franco-alemán sobre Grecia. La posibilidad de que Merkel y Sarkozy estuvieran preparando una declaración conjunta para calmar a los mercados ayudó a la recuperación del Ibex, que sube más de un 1%.
Asimismo, Merkel ha comentado que el BCE realiza sus decisiones sobre la compra de bonos europeos con independencia y que hay que tener en mente las consecuencias que acarrearía un default ordenado griego.
Merkel denies German joint statement with France in order to calm markets
Chancellor Angela Merkel has refuted that Germany was due to issue a joint statement with France today on the issue of Greece. Speculation that Merkel and Sarkozy were preparing to make a statement together in order to stabilise the markets helped the Ibex-35 to rally, with a rise of over 1%.
Moreover, Merkel stated that the ECB makes its decisions on the purchase of European bonds independently and that it was important to bear in mind the consequences that would arise from an orderly Greek default.

Las 'células madre' de la médula ósea reparan el corazón infartado del ratón

Científicos del Medical College de Nueva York y del Proyecto Genoma público han logrado, en ratones de laboratorio, reparar hasta un 68% del tejido cardiaco destruido por un infarto. La técnica consiste en inyectar directamente en el corazón dañado células madre tomadas de la médula ósea. El nuevo entorno induce a estas células a formar tejido cardiaco nuevo, con músculos y vasos sanguíneos indistinguibles de los normales. 'No veo una sola razón por la que esta técnica pudiera fallar en seres humanos', declaró ayer a este diario el jefe del equipo, Piero Anversa.
Anversa reconoce que 'falta bastante trabajo que hacer antes de aplicar la técnica a pacientes humanos', pero su previsión es empezar los ensayos clínicos de aquí a tres años.
Bone marrow stem cells repair heart attack damage in mice

Scientists from the New York Medical College and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) have succeeded in repairing up to 68% of the cardiac tissue damaged by heart attacks in laboratory mice. The technique involves injecting stem cells taken from bone marrow directly into the damaged heart. In their new environment, the stem cells develop into new cardiac tissue with muscles and blood vessels indistinguishable from healthy tissue. “I see no reason that this technique shouldn’t work in humans”, said the cardiologist leading the research, Piero Anversa, in an interview with this newspaper yesterday.
He recognises that "there is a lot of work ahead before the technique can be applied to humans". However, he predicts that clinical trials could begin within three years.
